Getting around Gurugram: metro, cab and when you actually need a car
The Yellow Line of Delhi Metro runs from HUDA City Centre through MG Road and Sikanderpur into South Delhi, and the Rapid Metro loops Cyber City to Sector 55-56 along Golf Course Road. Between them they cover the office belt, but they do not reach Sohna Road, Golf Course Extension or Manesar — for those you need a cab. Ola and Uber are cheap and universal; a Cyber City to Golf Course Extension ride is ₹250-350 and 25-40 minutes depending on the Rajiv Chowk signal.
From Indira Gandhi International (Terminal 3), the airport is 15 km from Cyber City on the Dwarka Expressway or NH-48 — 25 minutes at 6 am, 75 minutes at 6 pm. You do not need a rental car unless you are doing Neemrana (120 km, 2 hours on NH-48), Sariska (200 km) or day-tripping to Alwar. Gurgaon Railway Station is small and mostly useful for the Shatabdi to Jaipur; most rail travellers use New Delhi or Hazrat Nizamuddin instead.
How many nights in Gurugram and a first-timer’s plan
For work, most people stay 2-3 nights and never leave the Cyber City–Golf Course Road spine, which is fine. If you are combining meetings with a look at the region, add two nights: one for a day trip to Neemrana Fort Palace (2 hours down NH-48, good lunch stop) or Sariska Tiger Reserve (day safari possible if you leave by 5 am), and one for Old Delhi — Chandni Chowk, Jama Masjid, the Red Fort — reachable in 45 minutes on the Yellow Line.
A sensible shape: day one, settle in Cyber City and eat at Cyber Hub; day two, meetings, then Kingdom of Dreams in Sector 29 or the bars on Sector 29's main strip; day three, Sultanpur National Park at dawn (bird sanctuary, 15 km from MG Road) then Heritage Transport Museum at Taoru or the Museo Camera in Sector 23A. Four nights is plenty unless you are extending into Rajasthan.

Budget rooms (₹2,500-4,500) get you a clean 3-star in Sushant Lok, Sector 14 or Old Gurugram — think Lemon Tree, Ginger, Treebo-grade properties, with breakfast and reliable Wi-Fi but no pool. Mid-range 4-star (₹6,000-11,000) is the Gurugram sweet spot: Courtyard by Marriott on Sushant Lok, Crowne Plaza on Sector 29, Radisson Blu MBD on MG Road — pool, gym, two restaurants, airport shuttle usually extra at ₹1,200 one way. Top-end (₹14,000-30,000) means Trident, The Oberoi, Leela Ambience or ITC Grand Bharat in Manesar for resort format.
Rates spike in three predictable windows: Auto Expo in February (biennial), the wedding cluster in November-December, and any week the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida runs a major trade show. GST is 12% up to ₹7,500 and 18% above it — the threshold matters, and some hotels quote at ₹7,499 to stay under it. Weekend rates on Golf Course Road drop 20-30% because the corporate crowd goes home.
