What to expect at Oysters Water Park (Appu Ghar)

Appu Ghar is a Delhi institution that moved south to Gurugram in 2013 after its original Pragati Maidan site was cleared. The water park half — Oysters — is the flagship, with twenty slides, a 300,000-litre wave pool, a lazy river and children's zones. The adjacent dry-rides section (Appu Ghar Amusement Park) has a Sky Fall drop tower, roller coaster and family rides. Together they occupy a compact 17-acre site next to Leisure Valley Park.

For water, the anchor rides are the Rocket, a near-vertical body slide; the Screamer, a raft slide; and the Aqua Loop, which drops you through a trap door. The wave pool runs eight-minute cycles every fifteen minutes with a live DJ. Dry-side, Sky Fall is India's tallest drop tower at 55 metres. A dozen food kiosks sell serviceable but overpriced pizza, chaat and cold coffee. Locker rental is ₹150, costume hire ₹300 if you did not bring your own.

Weekdays are transformative — half the wait times and same rides open. Come at 10:30am opening to hit the top slides while the queues are short; by noon the wave pool is capacity-limited. Book online for a 20% discount off the counter price. Children under 90cm enter free. Combine with an evening in Sector 29 (five minutes away) for dinner. The park closes for two months of the deep winter (December-January) for maintenance.
