Getting there and around

The nearest airport is Goa International Airport (Dabolim), about 50 km south. Many visitors arrive via Mumbai or Delhi; from Gurugram, direct flights to Goa take around two and a half hours. Alternatively, take a train to Pernem or Thivim railway station, both within 20 km of Morjim. From there, a taxi or auto-rickshaw will get you to the village. Within Morjim, walking works for the beach road, but scooters or taxis are useful for exploring further afield. Buses are infrequent, so renting a two-wheeler is a common option.

When to go

The best time to visit Morjim is during the dry season, from November to February, when the weather is pleasant and the sea is calm. This period also coincides with the olive ridley turtle nesting season, though the beach is protected. March to May is hotter and more humid, with temperatures often exceeding 30°C. The monsoon, from June to September, brings heavy rain and rough seas, and many beach shacks and resorts close. October is a transitional month with occasional showers.
