Getting there and around
The Konkan Railway passes through Canacona, with a station at Chaudi, and trains run from Mumbai, Mangalore and other cities. By road it is about 70 km from Dabolim Airport (GOI) and 40 km from Margao, with buses and taxis available from Margao and other parts of Goa. For getting around, local buses, auto-rickshaws and rented scooters or motorcycles are common, and taxis are available too. The area is relatively small, and many places are within walking distance in the beach villages.
When to go
The best time to visit is from November to February, when the weather is dry and pleasant, with temperatures between 20°C and 32°C. This is the peak tourist season, so book accommodation in advance. From March to May it gets hotter and more humid, up to 35°C, and the monsoon from June to September brings heavy rain and rough seas, when many beach shacks and resorts close.
