Canacona is accessible by road and rail. The Konkan Railway has a station at Canacona (Chaudi), with trains from Mumbai, Mangalore and other cities. By road it is about 70 km from Dabolim Airport (GOI) and 40 km from Margao, and buses and taxis run from Margao and other parts of Goa. For getting around, local buses, auto-rickshaws and rented scooters or motorcycles are common; taxis are also available but can be expensive. The area is relatively small, and many places are within walking distance in the beach villages.

The best time to visit Canacona is from November to February, during the dry season, when temperatures range from 20°C to 32°C and the weather is pleasant. This is also the peak tourist season, so book accommodation in advance. From March to May it gets hotter and more humid, with temperatures up to 35°C. The monsoon, from June to September, brings heavy rain and rough seas, and many beach shacks and resorts close. October is a transitional month with occasional showers.
