Why people stay in Sushant Lok
Sushant Lok is what Gurugram looked like before it built glass towers — a planned colony from the mid-1990s of 2- and 3-storey plotted houses, laid out on a grid with actual tree-lined internal streets. It sits directly south of MG Road and west of Golf Course Road, tucked behind Cyber City. Phase 1 is the interesting bit; Phases 2 and 3 got absorbed into DLF and lost their character. It's residential first, business hotel second, and it works for anyone who wants to be near everything without being on top of it.
The commercial spine is a strip along Sector 43 chowk with the Galleria Market — an actual open-air market with independent bakeries, chemists, small restaurants and a decent produce shop. Nothing here is chain-scale, which after three days of Cyber Hub feels enormous. Rooms sit ₹6656-₹10460 in the boutique 4-stars and serviced apartments. The catch: no metro station in the colony itself, so anywhere you go starts with an 8-minute walk to Sikanderpur or a ₹285 auto.
By 9pm the Galleria Market strip is still busy but calm — families finishing dinner at Big Chill, a couple of groups lingering outside the cafes, autos idling for the last runs to Sikanderpur. There is none of the queue-and-bouncer energy of Cyber Hub two kilometres north; the loudest thing after dark is usually a wedding band drifting over from a lawn on Sector 42. Sushant Lok suits business travellers who want to sleep properly and families who need a kitchen and a park. It does not suit anyone chasing nightlife or a rooftop pool scene.
Phase 2 and Phase 3, despite sharing the Sushant Lok name, feel like a different suburb — wider roads, taller boundary walls, fewer footpaths, and almost none of the market culture that makes Phase 1 worth the detour. If a listing says Sushant Lok but the map pin sits north of the main colony road, check twice; it is likely Phase 2, a 20-minute walk from Galleria Market rather than five. DLF Phase 1, just west across the Golf Course Road boundary, is the closest genuine alternative when Phase 1 accommodation is full, sharing the same tree cover and a similar walk to Sikanderpur.
Best base is anywhere within 400m of Galleria Market on the Sushant Lok Phase 1 side — Aloft, Country Inn Sushant Lok, and various serviced-apartment options. ₹7132-₹10460 midweek. Avoid the interior blocks past D-block; they’re pure residential and getting food after 10pm involves a 15-minute walk out. Also skip Phase 2 and Phase 3 offerings unless the price is remarkable. Weekend rates typically ease by 10-15% since the colony fills mainly with weekday business stays rather than weekend tourism — expect ₹6300-₹8900 on a Saturday versus the midweek band above. High season runs October to March, when the tree-lined streets are genuinely pleasant to walk and rates edge toward the top of the range; June-August heat is low season and the better time to ask a serviced apartment for a weekly discount. Book anything within sight of the Galleria Market clock tower on the Phase 1 side.
Things to do in Sushant Lok
Sushant Lok Phase 1 central market. Blue Tokai coffee ground floor, Om Book Shop on the corner, Big Chill Cafe upstairs. Best 8-11am on any weekday. The one part of Gurugram that resembles neighbourhood life.
First and third Sundays of the month, 9am-1pm, on the Galleria Market forecourt. Organic vegetables, artisan bread, occasional decent goat cheese. Genuinely local — expect neighbours arguing about pumpkin varieties.
Actually across in Delhi, but Sushant Lok residents treat it as their local — 20 minutes by Uber, ₹761. Outdoor courtyard, decent Italian, book weekends 3 days ahead. Better food than anything in a 3 km radius of Sushant Lok.
The A, B and C blocks of Sushant Lok Phase 1 have proper tree-lined streets — jamun, gulmohar, neem — laid out on a grid. Loop any 4-block square 6:30-7:30am for real shade and birdsong. Free, safe.
The chowk at the mouth of Sushant Lok Phase 1, where the colony meets MG Road, fills with chaat and roll carts from around 7pm. A plate of aloo tikki or a paneer roll runs ₹80-120. Go before 9pm, before the oil gets reused for the late rush.
Small unnamed carts at the B-block junction near the DLF Golf Course boundary open around 6:30am and serve stuffed paratha with curd for about ₹60. Popular with dog-walkers and guards on shift change. No seating — eat standing, gone by 10am.

Getting around Sushant Lok
Sikanderpur metro (Yellow Line + Rapid Metro interchange) is the closest station — 8-15 minutes walk from most of Sushant Lok Phase 1, or ₹30 in an auto. To Cyber City: 6 minutes on the Rapid Metro or ₹285 Uber. To airport: 22 minutes, ₹1141 via NH-48, though evening rush can stretch that to 40-45 minutes. There is no direct metro link from IGI Airport, so most visitors take a prepaid taxi or app cab straight from the terminal rather than combining the Airport Express with a second cab. Inside the colony, walk or take an auto — the internal roads are quiet and pleasant.
